That's right. Eighty one of our neighbors have not paid dues.
As we have tried to explain to everyone in previous
newsletters, these dues are required to pay for community services within
Guilbeau Park.
One of the largest costs for Guilbeau Park is the maintenance of the pool.
This year's pool budget is just under $33,000. One of the largest
portions of that budget is paying the life guards. The monies not
received so far is just about the same amount as our life guard budget--$17,000.
In fact, that is about the largest single cost we have and one of the only
portions of the budget we have much leeway with. Other portions of
the budget are locked into monthly services and contractual agreements
that must be paid. Without the delinquent dues we may be forced to
close the pool for the summer. |

What are the other ramifications to not paying? GPOA can and will
put a lien against your house until the dues are paid. In addition
to the dues you will be liable for the attorney fees accrued in actions
taken against you. This can add up to thousands of dollars
instead of $200. When you try to sell your house the money will be
collected from your sale price before any other money is passed to you.
So if you are delinquent in your dues you need to pay them immediately.
You will be keeping the pool open for the summer and keeping yourself
out some very unappealing legal hassles.
If you are having problems with finances and wish to work out a special
payment plan you can call Carol Wilson at 681-7770. |
